Only the shape of the blade differs between the 2 knives. The 888 blade is long and straight, while the 9.47 blade is smaller and slightly more rounded. Apart from this difference, the handles and steel used are the same for these 2 models.

The Ubac is the counterpart of the Adret. Almost identical in shape, they differ in their finishes. The Ubac is slightly more rounded, is made with 6 hollow pan screws, and has a counter-edge on the blade. The Adret, on the other hand, has sharper edges, is made with mosaic rivets, and does not have a counter-edge on its blade.

Open, there is no difference between the 2 knives. They are the same size, same handle, same steel, same blade locking system (liner lock). The difference is visible once the knives are closed. Indeed, unlike the L08, the L10 has a lens, allowing one-handed opening.

Upon receipt of your order, an automatic email will be sent to you with a gift card code. Once in your customer area, click on "My gift cards", then "Activate a gift card". Then enter the code you received by email. Your gift card is then available and ready to be used for your purchase.

We recommend not exceeding 15 characters (including spaces). However, if you wish to engrave more, we can do it without any problem. The 15 characters are just a recommendation.

We can only engrave the blade of your knives.

Absolutely. Here is an example. Guilloching is available upon request. Please contact us directly by email at the following address: perceval@couteau.com or by phone at 04 73 51 71 10.

We can do your guilloching on folding knives only (Le Français, the L08, the Vendredi).

We do the guilloching on the back of the handle.

The cost is 30 € for this option.

Absolutely, you just need to write in the comments what you want as engraving for each of the knives in the set. (this question does not apply to individually purchased knives, as customization is done per knife)

Yes, you can engrave both the blade and the back on the same knife.

The cost is 10 € per engraving. For example, for a set of 6 table knives with customization, the cost is 60 € (10 € per knife). For a knife engraved on the blade and on the back, the option will cost 20 € (10 € for the blade engraving and 10 € for the back engraving).

4 - Manufacturing and Packaging of Our Knives

All our knives are made in our workshop, in Thiers, Auvergne.

You can buy our knives on our website couteau.com or in many cutlery shops throughout France.

We offer 2 different packaging options: either the knife is wrapped in kraft paper if it is purchased individually, or the knives are stored in a wooden box (packaging by 2 or by 6).

All our kitchen knives are packed in individual boxes.

Each folding knife is sent in an individual box.

Absolutely. You will find it under the foam and presentation card of the knife.

At Atelier Perceval, we are committed to contributing to the preservation of our beautiful planet. That's why we now use eco-friendly packaging. Our packing peanuts are made from cornstarch, 100% biodegradable, compostable, and water-soluble. The bubble wrap is 100% recyclable and reusable. And of course, the packaging boxes are recyclable!

Shipping costs are borne by the Customer. However, products that have not been used or maintained in accordance with the recommended maintenance advice, items that have been disassembled, and damage due to oxidation are excluded from the warranty.

7 - Instruction care

It is recommended to hand-wash your knives before their first use. Direct contact between food and the blade, without prior cleaning, could cause stains on the steel.

We recommend washing the knife in slightly soapy warm water, rinsing it with clean water, and immediately drying it with a soft cloth. Once this step is completed, you can begin using your knives.

Our knives are sharpened as they leave the workshop, so there is no need to sharpen them before the first use.

We recommend washing your knives with slightly soapy warm water, rinsing them with clean water, and immediately drying them with a soft cloth.

To avoid damaging your blades, we recommend storing your knives in the box they came in or storing them individually, ensuring the blades do not touch each other.

It’s important to differentiate between handle types:

- Polyacetal (plastic)

 - Krion

- Natural handles

Knives with wooden handles should not be cleaned in the dishwasher.

Knives with synthetic handles can be cleaned in the dishwasher. However, dishwasher detergents often contain harsh chemicals that can damage the blades. Additionally, the mix of micro-particles from different types of steel can cause reactions on the blades (such as stains or corrosion). In conclusion, using the dishwasher for knife cleaning should not be done regularly to ensure the longevity of your knives.

We recommend two techniques for sharpening your knives: using a sharpening steel or a waterstone.

We recommend replacing your knife if any of the following occurs:

  • The blade is broken, and it cannot be re-shaped.
